Now’s the time to apply for Project Local funding

TEACHING homeless people barista skills and buying equipment for Christian surfers.

After just two rounds of Project Local, two Bondi community groups have benefited from $2500 grants.

Our Big Kitchen is using their grant to help homeless people become baristas and find jobs in cafes, while Christian Surfers Bondi will use their funds to buy training equipment.

The third round of funding closes next Friday, April 20.

Now is the time to submit an idea which you think will make your community a better place to live in. Waverley Mayor John Wakefield is encouraging local groups to register their idea and be in the running for the $2500 grant.

“NewsLocal is fulfilling a vital need in our community for providing targeted grants for worthwhile local groups,” Cr Wakefield said.

NewsLocal has already awarded $100,000 across Sydney and the Central Coast to fund 40 projects.

These ideas cover interests from men’s sheds, to sensory gardens, websites, dance workshops and more.
